~November 30, 2007~

“I couldn’t say why, but on Friday night, November 30, 2007, I felt compelled to buy this little book while standing in line with my wife at Hobby Lobby. I had no idea what I would do with it, but I couldn’t resist.”

2007 . . . Can you imagine going back to that year? Certainly, with the aid of this low-tech website, you say (you’re welcome). When AI was merely an ancient city in the Bible, and you didn’t have to prove you weren’t a robot to buy a pair of socks. Come on, I know I’m not the only one who can’t get enough nostalgia.

To that end, you’ve got my word you’ll never be ambushed by popups here or distracted with ads. I’m not in it for that. If we are to slow ourselves, taking time to look back in gratefulness so we can look forward with hope, this must be a calm place of reflection–a true tech haven.

~December 4, 2007~

“In just a few days, God has made it clear that this is to be a journal of His promises.

Big day. Someone approached me about a vocational opportunity. Completely unexpected. I wasn’t even thinking about it. I assured them I was unqualified, but they claimed otherwise. It’s years off, but still a chance far bigger than I ever considered. Please, Lord!

Steep as the odds are, this didn’t strike me as a whim to be forgotten, but something God might be doing. How can something so good happen to me, though? Constantly in doubt mode . . .

I know God said He has plans for us, for hope and a future. Maybe even for my writing. Wonderful notions, just two problems–I won’t be able to hold on with the steadfast faith I should, and besides, I’ve already been given more than enough.”

Hindsight is truly a wholly different perspective than the anticipation of the unknown. That becomes clear, looking back over this journal. Some forget how fervently they once sought after their prize, having obtained it. Some even regret obtaining it. I count myself fortunate to say that in all things, however it turned out, lessons learned and experiences gained were always worth it in the end. I wouldn’t change a thing, even the hardest parts. How many unexpected blessings would I lose if I did?

But surely, you travelers have similar experiences. What opportunities have come your way unlooked for? What are your longings, dreams, goals? Fulfilled, failed, or otherwise, I’d love to hear about your quests, wherever you may be in them. The other travelers in our little cohort would too, trust me. Use any name you wish, and chime in brothers & sisters.

Write On,

Fellow Traveler

Post Script ~ Almost forgot! Serl mentioned to me in the corner booth the other day that he’s found a means of collecting your renderings, recipes, etc. Be on the lookout next month.
